Spread the rug on the floor and let it sit for about two days to see if it relaxes on its own.
Repair wrinkles in carpet.
Rotate the adjustment knob on the head of the stretcher to extend the teeth and grab the carpet.
Some won t do it unless you ask them too.
Allow the sealer to dry completely.
Set the teeth into the carpet near the wall and push down on the stretcher handle.
Give your rug some time.
If you can place the rug on a hard floor rather than carpet while it relaxes even if you plan to use it on carpet once it is wrinkle free.
Then lock the stretched carpet into place by jamming it behind the tack strip with a putty or linoleum knife.
If you re installing your carpet ask your carpet installer to use a power carpet stretcher to make sure that the your carpet never wrinkles.
In order for new carpet to be installed properly it requires that a power stretcher is used to help mechanically stretch in the carpet tight enough to help prevent wrinkles from forming over the typical life span of the carpet.
Next pull the carpet out from under the baseboard on two adjoining sides of the room and stretch the carpet to remove the puckers using carpet stretching tools.
Finally rehook the carpet on the tack strips attached to the subfloor trim off any excess carpet around the edges and slip it back under the baseboard.
Apply seam sealer or carpet latex to the edge of the backing to seal it and prevent unraveling.
Pull the carpet up from the tack strip at.
Operate the power stretcher with the lever and capture the excess carpet in the tack strip as you stretch.
If a power stretcher is not used then the carpet has not been installed properly.
To fix a wrinkle you can rent a carpet stretcher and a knee kicker for around 40 bucks and adjust its tooth depth to the depth of the pile of your carpet.
