Dampen a soft cloth with acetone.
The crack will just reappear.
You can do this with clear high gloss paint shellac but only put it on the grout joint.
I would then re assemble or box up the two sides which would be nice and square to make fitting easier when returned to the property.
If some of the marble tiles have cracked you do not need to remove the surround.

Allow the marble surface to completely dry.
To create granite dust use a grinder with a diamond grinding bit to go over the surface of a matching piece of granite.
