To use the scraper attachment insert the blade into your reciprocating saw and lock it in place. The adhesive used to attach the carpet is more durable than standard carpet glue because it must resist water and temperature fluctuations. Sand the entire deck area for a smooth surface. Be sure you have the carpet where you want it before pulling out the paper as you wont get a second chance. A 2 to 4 wide blade should be appropriate for removing carpet glue. As with wooden flooring some small fiber pieces could still remain. Grasp the loosened edge of carpeting and pull upwards.

Once you have lifted up as much of the carpet as you can use a sander or grinder to get rid of any patches of glue. Gently pour the boiling water onto the areas of dried glue on the concrete subflooring. Boat carpeting is installed with marine grade adhesive so you will hear a ripping sound as the carpet releases from the glue. Allow the hot water to sit for a few minutes to loosen the glue.
